It's existed for generations in X&Y what they are doing though are studies into it like they usually do.
Unless you want to suggest that evolution was a scientific breakthrough in gen 4 because they were studying it.

Or not being completely and intentionally retarded, remember that Mega Evolution was already known about for some time in Kalos with the Tower of Mastery folk, it just didn't go mainstream. Steven, being the stone nutjob he is, actually looks into it on a trip to Kalos, and brings back a couple of Rings and Stones he digs up. He gives one to the player along with the Mega Stone for their starter when you deliver Devon's letter to him. Then maybe something like the energy put out by Kyogre/Groudon's rampage creates Mega Stones in Hoenn for you to go look for.

No no no nowhere did it say that either. It says M.E. stones are more common in Kalos but are still rare. Meaning you can find M.E. stones in other regions but are rarer to find. Toss that with what was said above and people have probably been finding M.E. stones since Gen. 1. but A. Didnt realize how to use em or B. that it was more than a regular stone.

And that's fine, shit like that happens, it's called a retcon, but up until it's release, the writer's original statement was canon, so until we get 'Pokemon Historia' or whatever, all we have to go on is what the writers say now as canon.

They wanted to do that in brawl and found pokemon trainer to be the best way to do it. now without any transformations, they are doing each starter type separately and each from different generations to give them more representation. sceptile = all but confirmed

He may actually be on to something, though. The two unreleased Zygarde moves (Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows) closely mirror Kyurem before BW2. This doesn't mean we'll undoubtedly get XY2, but it does make the idea more plausible.
