You realize that IVs more or less existed since Gen I, right?

Okay, so they were called DVs and only ranged from 0 to 15, but they translated to 1 point increases at level 50 and 2 point increases at level 100. In Gen II, DVs decided gender and shininess as well, so Female and alternately colored Pokemon were inherently worse than normal.

The only reason you're upset about them now is that you're actually aware that they exist and it's feasible to optimize them. Getting perfect DVs in Gen I is probably the most extreme form of autism.

It's annoying.
But it is far easier now. Wondertrade can get you high iv pokemon, and friend safari can too.
And if that's not enough, don't worry about them. Sure your pokemon will have some lower stats but that's not always going to be a game changer.

They mean a Pokemon Stadium-esque arena with "build your own" rental Pokemon so you can tweak Pokemon to use online. Also collapsing the redunant abilities and moves to replace them with new, hopefully better ones. Also a chance they cut back on new mons just like this generation, to focus on in-game balance and readjustment.

This is what I would do to simplify the game you might not agree and I respect that

IVs no longer have any part in deciding stats, they're only used for Hidden Power. Pokemon are assumed to be 6IV in terms of stats.

Instead, pokemon get a nature and 2 subnatures. These act just like they do now, but the main nature changes stats by 20%, while the others are hidden from the player (But an NPC can reveal them) and change stats by 10%. A pokemon can't have the same nature more than once, or we'd have adamant adamant adamant MegaMawile everywhere.

You can only use a Mega if you raise it's friendship in Amie. Higher friendship = better stats when Mega, maximum is like they are currently. It's to emphasize how powerful they are by making you work for them.

Lastly, hidden abilities can now be accessed by SUPER ABILITY CAPSULES, which cost 1000bp. Safari pokemon and non-breedables are guaranteed to have abilities supportive of a stat they use, so a Safari Chansey will have 3 HP-benefitting abilities

Because sometimes you'll want something 0 IVs for attack or speed. It adds diversity with IVs making some Pokemon take on different roles and such.

Granted I wish there was a way to make IVs change through training or something, but taking them out is stupid

I never understood the argument of wanting 0 IVs, because the only reason you'd want them is because the IV system exists in the first place. You want things with 31 IVs to outspeed you, and you want Confusion to do the least amount of damage. These could easily be done simply with natures.

It's not like you're ever going to run any stat that isn't 0, 1, 30, or 31. Unless it's the special attack on a physical attacker, in which case that stat does not matter.

One example would be Aegislash. When two are fighting each other the one that attacks first leaves Defense Form, so the other can do more damage in return. Also Gyro Ball Shuckle and trick roomers.
Outside of that and special attackers though 0IVs aren't that popular.

It's already simple enough to get high IV Pokémon. If you only care about competitive play you should be playing on one of those Smogon simulator things, and if you don't just care about competitive play, why would IVs bother you that much?

None of this is hard to do or even that time consuming if you know what you're doing. IVs are easy to breed for since its easy to get good IV pokemon, wondertrade, safari zone and just asking for one from pokemon community forums.

EVs has never been easier, you go to a horde with pokemon that have pokerus and a power item on and you're done in minutes. The only con in this is some moron at gamefreak thought it was a good idea to cancel out sweet scent's effect in rain.

The only thing that could arguably take some time is natures if you don't already have the right one.

Overall, stop bitching and learn the system, shit is not hard to do or time consuming, you want to battle without the training part? Just play a damn simulator or pokegen you casual.

Hidden Power breeding really isn't so bad. Last gen they gave us a ton of stuff with 30's across the board (N's Pokémon) which can be bred to most egg groups, and this gen we got very easily obtainable 31's.
The only difficulty is not being able to see the IV's themselves, so you have to use a calculator.
Hidden Power breeding is still easier than competitive breeding was in the old games
The only difficulty is with Hidden Power on genderless Pokémon. Fuck that shit.

You can get Riolu and Azuril from the route to the right of the first gym. That gives you 4IV pokemon in Field/Human-like and Water1/Fairy. That's two of the largest groups and another two of decent size.

No, getting started on breeding isn't that fucking hard.

Eh, this is the first gen that I've actually bothered with IVs. While I admit it is tedious, I did feel pretty fucking satisfied when I finally produced some perfect 6 IV'd Pokemon.

If people don't care about IVs at all the game is easy enough for them, and they'll probably stand a fighting chance against half the players who challenge them. IV breeding is optional unless you want to go competitive.

Your patterns don't mean shit. Every gen has had some sort of change to the IV system; with gen 4 introducing the ability to give a power item in order to guarantee certain IVs pass, and more recently with the Destiny Knot passing down 5 IVs from either parent every time.
