Essentially you buy little figurines for the platform and then it can interact with the WiiU OR the 3DS and you can do some customising and such and read the article.
Each remake has brought about some extra hardware and well...

What would be neat if they sold ones for like Pikachu, Greninja, Charizard, Lucario and Jigglypuff and then allowed you to somehow get a Pokemon with that "moveset" sent to your game.

If you mean for something like ORAS, it's probably unlikely. Pokemon has the draw for other series, but unless it's something like Smash, it doesn't really show up in any other "party" games, unlike Mario which has all the sports titles, Kart, Smash, etc.
