Sapphire was the first game I played through to the end and I loved everything about it, even the shitty bits. I like the native Pokemon and the routes and the gym leaders and the music... Hearing about the remakes feels like coming home.

So what if we overlook a few flaws? We still acknowledge they're there but we choose not to pay that much attention to them.

RSE had Secret bases, and contests (frontier as well, but im not getting my hopes up for ORAS), these combined gave the games an unbelievably large amount of things to do post-E4, the games also had many interesting secrets or rare events like the regis, mirage island, and the blend master, the games also made great use of the TV's found in the various houses, the game world felt more alive than the other entries in the franchise (though Sinnoh comes close). New mechanics such as the Physical special split, and the improved graphics over the years, have rendered the original games with an extremely outdated feeling, thus a remake allows us to go back to that great world with all the modern improvements.

I also liked the trumpet music

Both of those were because the GBA screen was shit. A lot of GBA games were brightened up just to compensate for the dark screen. Picture related.

Pokemon Emerald is considered to be one of the best Pokemon games, if not the best. In the TheTopTens, it's listed as number one. And after how good FireRed was as a remake, I think people are excited for the Gen III remake.

Pokemon rehashes make the game better. Gens I & II had problems? Fixed em. Also, they're up to date now. Also, rehashes tend to be better optimized for the console and have more features than the first games released on said console.

Yeah, I do want the game for mostly nostalgia reasons, but it's because I thought that RSE was fun!
I can't wait to get to experience it new and improved!

OP is half right. I'm not stupid enough to thing that Gen 3 is anywhere near as good as you Hoennbabbies blinded by nosttalgia think it is.

BUT,

I also understand that from a development point of view, they tried things in Gen 3 that didn't work then, that CAN work now.

Couples with the graphical updates and gameplay mechanics, I honestly believe that OR/AS COULD be some of the greatest games in the franchise to date.

But OP, you are correct that R/S are horribly overrated, and almost everybody excited for the games seems to be excited based on nostalgia, and not things that actually matter.

Also, more elaborate Battle Frontier.

Having said that though, every new pokemon game is an excersize in nostalgia. Its always more of the same or slightly improved more of the same.

I'm afraid they won't fix all of the problems that are unrelated to game mechanics though (rival, evil teams, too much water, backtracking, shit map design, etc)
