If you could change one Hoenn Gym Leader in a way that would fit the story, which one would you replace? What Gym would go in its place?

Honestly all of the gym leaders make sense where they are.
Maybe Roxanne could be replaced for a Normal type gym leader, and she could be doing work with Steven or something.

- Winona researches at the Weather Institute.
- Tate and Liza are the children of scientists who work at the Mossdeep Space Center.
- Roxanne is the younger sister to Steven Stone

I can't really think of anyway Brawly could be implemented better.

Isn't the manga similar to that? I haven't read up to Ruby and Sapphire but I thought I remember hearing something about some of the Gym leaders being evil and Winona having to keep them in line.

If I remember right
Roxanne (for some reason), Brawly, and Wallace were on the side with Aqua.
Wattson, Flannery and Winona all sided on Magma.
Anyone else went with neither because it was just a stupid conflict at that point.
