Hey folks, So I just got Pokemon X and Y yesterday and am a total noob at it. Any party essentials that I should grab for my team early on? I'm at Ambrette Town right now - just arrived - with the following:

Frogadier, level 21, naive
Fletchinder, level 20, rash
Ivysaur, level 23, quiet

so I'm looking for a good 4th that I could nab from the wild and stick with. Maybe ground or electric type. Suggestions please?

Grab a Bagon near that town. See how Salamence wrecks havoc among your opponents.

Also why no catch the other two? If anything try catching whatever you see and use whatever you like, so you can complete the Dex faster.

In the nearby cave and route there are Helioptile, Kangaskhan, Sandile and Ferroseed. Those are decent.

Did you catch the Snorlax? Hope you did, it's one of a kind in your game.

Flabebe is great. Florges has a huge Special Attack and it will be quite useful.

Pretty noob. I only just heard about the Fairy type and don't know the best of Gen 6.

I thought of that, but would you say that it's helpful pre-Salamence evolution? Is Shelgon still strong for battling with until I can break level 50 with it?

Oh, fantastic. Is that Glittering Cave? I had a Krookodil in Pokemon White and it did me great good.

Oh, so you do have previous experience. Good.

Shelgon is fine. 95 attack and 100 defense will wall most physical opponents. Don't expose it to SE special attacks and you'll be fine.

Right before it, in the route where you ride the Rhydon.
