Soft reset when you see that it's not shiny. It's not complicated. You should be easily doing 100+ an hour.

If you're really committed then you'll get it, just be aware that you could potentially be facing up to 30,000 resets. When doing research for my own SR projects (I am hoping to start on Ho-Oh myself) people generally seem to get them around the 18,000 to 26,000 mark, which is 2-3x the odds.
As long as you make sure that you are doing something at the same time - watching tv, playing around on the internet - then it will be easier for you. But honestly, you should be prepared for this hunt to take up to 6 months.

Just because the odds are 1/8192, doesn't mean you are guaranteed to get a shiny on the 8192nd encounter. You could get lucky and find it in 4, or unlucky and find it in 30,000. There's a dude on the Serebii forums who reset for a shiny Charmander 400,000 times. And that's not a typo - it took him 4 years.

Seriously, OP. It will be a lot more rewarding to just learn fourth gen RNG abuse.
It will take a lot less time, and you will have the satisfaction of mastering the game mechanics.
Trust me, you'll feel a lot better if you put a little work forth to get you shiny, as opposed to watching the HG loading screen to roll a die thousands of times.

I kind of understand how you feel. I'm a breeder (im a perfectionist so i only want the very best!), and ever since Platinum, every Pokemon Egg I've hatched always came from a Foreign Pokemon. I've definitely hatched more than 1,000 in my PokeCareer... and not one single shiny. Even in the wild, I always save my Masterball for that one potential shiny (i have a nice collection of Masterballs at this point ahaha). I'm not giving up though and neither should you!

Your devotion will pay off soon! I'm cheering for you!
