>>19248675Drizzle+SSwim was banned because, out of all options, it was the best:
-Banning Kingdra, Ludicolo, Kabutops, etc. who were all ridiculously strong under rain: not desirable, as they couldn't be used in lower tiers and they couldn't be used to counter Rain teams
-Banning Swift Swim: all the viability of the above mons is eliminated, and Swift Swim couldn't be used on manual-rain teams
-Banning Drizzle: REALLY debate worthy because gen5 was a huge mess, since like a dozen things got banned just because of how they worked in rain, but banning Drizzle would have eliminated rain teams, which, after banning a bunch of other stuff, were arguably not broken
-Banning Drizzle+Swift Swim: the best solution, even if it's a complex ban. Kingdra and friends can be used, Swift Swim can be used, and everyone could enjoy the fun that was weather wars
As opposed to unbanning Blaze Blaziken, which doesn't really have any upsides, besides the fact you could use Blaze Blaziken. It actually sort of reminds me of something that happened when they banned Sand Veil: Cacturne got a bunch of move illegalities, since it then had to use its hidden ability, but no one cared, since it was Cacturne. Same thing with Blaze Blaziken: it's not worth the trouble to make a complex ban just to be able to use Blaziken, when there's the possibility of people asking why Lugia w/o Roost is banned. Or even if we just stick with [mon]+[ability], why Swarm Scolipede and Cheek Pouch Diggersby is banned from UU.
