I've never known anyone irl with that mentality. I've talked to are guys that just played Pokemon as a kid and haven't showed interest in the series since then, so they don't recognize any of the new Pokemon but they aren't in denial about the franchise still existing or anything and don't really care anymore. I'll be honest, I had a similar mentality against gen 5 when it was released. I played up to gen 4 and thought that gen 5 designs looked like shit and that Pokemon was ruined.
When I read all the hype for gen 6, I went and bought the gen 5 games and had a lot of fun with them. Now gen 5 is my favorite and Krookodile is one of my favorite mons.
Hilda's also my favorite Pokegirl.

Not really. Slime designs inly work because they're familiar and hard to fuck up. People have seen faces on goo in every other game ever so GF can make a slime monster that no one will really, truly hate.
