Do you pronounce his name as "Sep-tile" or "Skep-tile"?

I know the first choice is the correct way, but when I was a kid I called him Skeptile and it just stuck with me, even though I know better.

Yeah I think I pronounced sceptile right BECAUSE of scyther, even though scyther's semantics point to scythes, and I- dont' know about sceptile's other than the reptile part.

It's been pronounced both ways officially. In Japanese the way it's spelled makes it "Arse-see-us" and even in English they pronounced it that way for a while until they changed it to "Ark-ee-us" for some reason.

I looked it up, and apparently they changed it because they were afraid people would be offended by the "arse" part of its name

I did the exact same thing. Treecko was my first starter, and I had a Sceptile before it appeared in the anime, so I just pronounced it the same way you did. However once I saw the tobias episode with ash, I kinda just got converted over to that "proper" pronunciation, I think because I was proud of Sceptiles portrayal in fucking up Darkrai and then going on to fight latios.
