So what if she was in HGSS at the same time? If you use the Hall of Origin Arceus to go back to the Sinjoh Ruins (which really don't make sense if DPPt happen at the same time), the Hiker will tell you that Cynthia went back to Sinnoh. It was a brief trip. Cynthia stayed in Unova the whole time in BW2, no changing that.

GSC, FRLG, and HGSS all prove that Yellow isn't canon. Red's team is easily explained too: Game Freak gave him all three starters to not make only one the canon starter, and Pikachu is the Pokémon's mascot (it can also be caught in Viridian Forest on RGB and FRLG). Snorlax and Espeon/Lapras are all obtained by Red in RGB/FRLG.

Also, Yellow was released as a special edition everywhere. Ín Japan, it was the fourth version of Generation I and it was even called "Pocket Monsters: Pikachu", not "Pocket Monsters: Yellow" like RGB. Outside of Japan, RB were RGB fused together, with Yellow released as "Special Pikachu Edition". It was also based on the anime. They only released it to buy time to finish GS.

FRLG replaces RGB, HGSS replaces GSC, and ORAS now replaces RS (and likely E as well).

And yes, the Sevii Islands in FRLG confirm GSC and HGSS due to the whole forced evolution thing and the fact that the Team Rocket Admins of Chrono Island's Rocket Warehouse are the same as the top two Rocket Executives in GSC, which became Executive Archer and Executive Ariana in HGSS.A

My question is that remakes occurred alongside their respective partner game, which FRLG proved that it coincided with RSE. HGSS launches during Gen IV, which thanks to evidence in the game, fans had concluded happened at the same time as the other Gen IV games, albiet slightly beforehand. I assume the player of DPPt starts around the time the player of HGSS beats Morty and is capable of reaching the Red Gyarados.

We had assumed BW was after DPHGSS due to the weird Rocket grunt. And now that BW2 and XY are confirmed to run concurrently, what does this mean for ORAS? Unless there is some weird time machine trading device, how are we supposed to trade/interact with characters technically from the future?

Steven and Cynthia are the easiest to do guest appearances for since all Gamefreak has to do is throw in a line about being interested in new research. Alder would work too, but nobody seems to like him.

The others are kind of hard to make it feel like they'd be there for anything other than pure fanservice.
