Not that anon, but I keep mine in my front pocket. Sure it can be a pain to get out if I am hurried, but it saves me from being pickpocketed or for it just slipping out by itself.

Was ANYTHING in view? I have a hard time believing that someone went for a car with a chance of not getting anything. That's a lot of risk for potantially no reward, and thieves are rarely that stupid. Unless they knew you enough to know that you do leave such stuff in the car.
