So, I'm new to the Poke Radar. What, exactly, are the conditions for breaking a chain? Because several times now, I've done, as far as I can tell, exactly what all the guides I've read have recommended and still had the chain break. I stay away from patches next to walls and edges of grass, going for patches that look exactly the same as the previous patch I stepped in, fainting/capturing all Pokemon in a chain (obviously), using repel, going for ones that are 4 steps away, etc. Is there just some chance that even if you do everything perfectly the chain will break?
