Looking to start one and don't wanna waste my time with some low tier hack unowatimsayin?

I haven't played a ton of roms but Zeta/Omicron look pretty well polished so far.

I mean yeah, I know about all the various 'harder, all the pokemon, some stat changes' hacks, but we have the ability to change the maps, sprites, stats, and all that shit in gen 4 and 5, and nobody does anything with it.

I was really fond of this hack. It was a faithful remake of Gold and had a pretty fantastic soundtrack. Sadly, it's only in moon, so the second best option is Shiny Gold.

That because there aren't really any tools for Gen V, and the tools that do exist are old and next to useless. Compared to the resources of Gen 3 (Particularly Fire Red) Gen V hacking is screwed.

I did fire it up though and it was neat, using the randomizer I got to have a Regigas for a starter and have it follow me around like Pikachu in Yellow, so that was cool.

Pokemon UltraViolet. It lets you catch a Pokémon at the beginning rather than just being handed one (though that is still an option). Also, through one method or another, all Pokemon up to Gen 3 are available. For example, rather than by trading, Graveler becomes Golem at level 40. There's also more stuff to do, a while additional island (it's a FireRed hack, of course), and the difficulty is amped up. All in all, it shows the creator took a lot of time to make it an experience.
