Smogon's forums are full of actual pokemon discussion (of varying quality), and there's not a whole lot of hugboxing except from a few faggot mods. Not perfect but still way better than /vp/ for talking about the meta.

The problem is that Smogon targets pokemon that they don't like when it comes to banning. Smogon will never ban Smogondragon, Smogonbird, Smogonedge, Smogonalien or Smogonwasher because they suck their dicks.
