I agree that switching protags SHOULD have been what happened from Gen 2, but they opted to do otherwise, and simply removing Ash isnt going to fix the anime.

Anyone who watched it knows that Ash actually WAS developing during the Sinnoh arc, and was shaping up to become a great trainer. Hell, i'd even say it was shaping a good future for the anime, until B/W basically undid everything,
