So seeing x and y's engine sucks ass and hoenn is one of the largest regions in pokemon to date, even excluding ocean routes, I have to ask.

I don't have any problems with gates, but they feel out of place in Hoenn, its a more wild, nature kinda place

because the couldn't load any more of the map, and breaking it up with a loading screen was the only other alternative to having a gate.

By that logic, how can anyone be hyped for anything? There's always a lot of things that can go wrong with anything, video game or not.

Besides, it's silly to think that they will not have at least tried to improve the engine. Whether or not it is actually improved remains to be seen, though.

Which reminds me, how much of the area could you travel without having to enter a short loading screen or building of some sort? I know Rustboro in the west is surrounded by 2 caves and a forest, but the rest of the region (assuming you don't take detours through caves such as around Lavaridge town) appears to be possible to traverse without ever needing to load. Is the surrounding area loaded as the player moves? Could that much of the map be loaded at once? Or did Hoenn just do a better job at making the map loading more subtle?
