I've owned 4 Shiny Greninja, 2 of which I caught myself. I dont let the fact that its popular ruin it for me, although I understand why you'd be a little irk'd. Half the reason to own a Shiny, especially a Gen 6 one, is because they're supposed to be the uncommon version, yet almost everyone who uses Greninja will try to get a Shiny one at some point it seems

I accidentally took a shiny Hippopotas off of GTS when I was filling up my dex for the charm. I don't think the trader noticed it was shiny, since I didn't until it evolved.

It wasn't just a female, the actual shiny is much less impressive.

I had an idea for /shw/ - Masuda Hard Mode.
At first, you roll to choose what method you are going to use.
1,3,5,7,9 = Lucca's method (grab 5, hatch 3 at Lumiose, and collect 5 more as the other 2 hatch)
2,4,6,8 = Autohatch (collect eggs in bulk. Only allowed to hatch after 10 boxes are full. No stipulation for 10th box)
0 or dubs = Stay on route 7 (fill your party with eggs and grab more eggs right after they hatch!
After every box, you roll. and depending on the roll, you get a certain stipulation for the next box.
Examples:
2- the waiting game = You are only allowed to hatch 6 eggs every 20 minutes!
3 - back to square one = (if autohatch) delete a box of eggs! (if anything else) Breed a box of a completely different Pokemon! (go back to your original after, use random.org to find the different mon)
4 - this will take a while = Breed the next box without your egg hatcher (Flame body/magma armor mons)!
5 - up all night to get REAL lucky= Breed the next box with two mons from the same region!
And so on

Except this is completely wrong. There is nothing challenging about Masuda Methoding a shiny. It is not a skill based task. There is no skill you can bring to the table to increase your chances of obtaining a shiny through this method. It is literally just a numbers game that you get through by grinding. You can impair your ability to do this by throwing artificial roadblocks at yourself but why would you do that if your goal is to get a shiny?

It's counter-productive and completely backwards.

Why would you box the hatchlings? Why keep that that isn't shiny?

Anyways, the hatch 5 method is considered the most efficient by some, but it depends on the egg cycles of what you're hunting. I personally prefer filling 21 boxes and autohatching, because it lets me do other things in the meantime.

Forgot to mention, if you autohatch you can do things like remove one parent from the Day Care and insert something that needs to be levelled up, like a Pickup mon. Whilst you hatch away, the steps taken boost that thing up without needing to grind Le Wow or whatever.

If you were referring to boxing eggs though it's often a matter of producing eggs faster than you can hatch them. This is an especially prevalent issue if you have the oval charm. With an oval charm the lowest your egg production rate will be is 50% and that will still feel like the game is throwing eggs at you. When you get to something like a 90% egg rate, you don't have time to hatch at all.

I personally go Battle Chateau because the Audino Trainers/Gym Leaders/Elite Four give off a good amount of exp in a short amount of time
