I'm probably just mad that he did a big fuckup at the end there by sending out Grovyle against Metagross. He probably should've just sent out Pikachu to take it out instead of firing shitty bullet seeds at it.

Champions are like Elite Four-level times 10 and we see that Ash isn't even close to challenging a Champion but he's definitely strong enough to take on the Elite Four. He almost defeated Agatha, Bertha, and probably the strongest Frontier Brain, Palmer.
If your Pokemon are at the point where they can compete against Legendaries, I'm pretty sure they are powerful enough to handle the Elite Four.
