They were still two different technologies, as minor as you may think the differences were. DS and DSi, other than some titles being exclusively downloadable on the DSi, were the same fucking thing. All cartridges were compatible between the two, every single gameplay and graphical thing was the same. Gameboy is to Gameboy Color what Wii is to Wii U. DS is to DSi what Wii is to Wii slim.

What is "Gameboy generation?" There's only console generations and there GB is part of 4th one,while GBC is part of the 5th. Meanwhile all DS variants belong to 7th generations. Your argument is just invalid.

Excuse me if I am wrong, but wouldn't Gold and Silver technically be Game Boy games instead of Color? On the box there's the "Game Boy" logo without the "Color", yes they have Color compatibility but they can be played on a standard GB too. The only proper GBC game would be Crystal, which is playable only on the GBC but not on the standard one and also it has the "Color" logo on the cover.
