The sad news is though with soul silver you'll be forced to fight lugia in the game to reach ho-oh and if you really want to get to ho-oh asap you'd prob have to run from lugia and fork over the chance to get a shiny lugia on that file

If this is on a new file lugia would be a nice stationary legendary to try I think. Only needs 8 badges to get to and you'd have the masterball

If you don't want to use a masterball build a team designed to catch your sr pokemon. A false swiper and smeargle is really helpful.
Set text speed to fast and save right in front so you can press a to start the encounter

Be
Wary
of sring so fast on sight that you reset when its an
actual shiny from muscle memory. Take a brief window of time to take it in visually

If not using masterball take a shower and calm down before battling it so you don't mind blank on the adrenaline rush and hit run or something.

I have two sets in mind: one with rock polish using a wobbuffet to get the free boost (Special "sweeper" with stone edge for coverage and a decent attack), and a set with Choice scarf using iron head for even more coverage.

I will use +252SpA , 252 Speed. With that it can outspeed not very fast pokemon. With that it has 179 speed, and that is 358 with rock polish or 268 with choice scarf.
With scarf it can outspeed Base 70 full ev positive nature pokemon (like breloom), but it's still shit.
With rock polish it enters into the same fucking tier than Jolteon and other 130 base speed pokemon (with neutral nature to speed).

Check Camerupt base stats and then check infernape's. Impressive.

I've got a 6v modest female i'm not using anymore, the only problem is that she is in a regular pokeball, i also have 6v timid female in a premier ball, but you'll have to find a modest father.
