It's above average. It has two immunities and its STAB is good since only two types resist it. Making it SE against Fairy types does not help. If you want to make Fairies worse take away its resistance to Bug.

Normal - shit attacking type
Psychic - mediocre attacking type
Steel - shit attacking type
Bug - shit attacking type
Rock - mediocre attacking type
Dragon - good attacking type
Flying - mediocre attacking type
Fairy - good attacking type
Ice - good attacking type

So out of what it resists, it has at best 4 and a half useful resists.

Grass actually has useful resists in Water, Ground, and Electric (steel is weak to one of these and gets hit neutrally by the other two), which are some of the best attacking types in the game, so its actually a pretty good defensive type. It just has no offensive presence whatsoever.

A singular typing? No. But then again, there are very very few Pokemon with a singular typing that are competitively viable. As a secondary typing, yes. Look at what it did for Charizard X.

Dragon is a great typing because of the fact that it is resisted by very little in the entire game. There's a reason Outrage was a "Win" button in fifth gen. Because you dance a couple times and then nothing can sotp you because

Please, continue to amaze me with how fucking dumb you are. Resistances help, a lot.You could give them a few or even drop some. There's small things you could do like giving Leech Seed a 100% accuracy rate.

The one or two uncommon fairies you see in OU? Yeah, they're there to stop that "win" button. That's how much of a threat dragons are. The immunity hit pretty hard, but Azumarill is the only common fairy type in OU at all.

Maybe in seventh gen where fairies collective BSTS aren't below 500 can you say dragons are mediocre. Until then, they will continue to dominate in high level play.

While I agree that a typing can be good offensively or defensively, it's fairly obvious that the two can be melded into a singular form to help narrow it down into a singular lsit.

Ice is pretty good offensively (Not the best), but at the same time, it's the worst defensive type in the game, therefore, underpowered.

Poison types are great defensively and poor offensively, therefore, balanced.

Dragons are both great offensively and defensively, therefore, overpowered.

Fire is pretty good both offensively and defensively, therefore, balanced.

Fairy is amazing both broken defensively and offensively, therefore, overpowered as fuck.

Personally, I think this is how Fighting should be handled:

>Remove Fairy weakness
>Ice and Rock no longer weak to Fighting, giving them a much needed defense buff

I'd like to see more things about to hit Electric supereffectively, honestly. Ground is the only SE option you have, and while everyone and their mother runs Earthquake on something, it'd be nice to have more options. Especially for in-game stuff.

(Seriously, I ran a randomization for B2 that tossed up a Wonder Guard pure-Electric Hitmonlee for Roxie, and it was sufficiently early in the game that literally nothing I had caught had a Ground move. I ended up bringing in a very underleveled Sand Stream Phanpy and just... waiting.)

How to fix the type chart in a few simple steps:
1) Fairy is NVE vs Grass, Bug is neutral vs Fairy
2) Ice resists Water, expect for Scald and Brine which are SE vs Ice. Scald and Brine now have 70 BP
3) Steel is SE vs Dragon
4) There is another move like Freeze-Dry (acid melts Steel)
5) Poison resists Water

I don't know the stat distributions for the non-venusaur grass/poison types but I'd have thought that should give them a bit of a boost, if indirectly nerfing grass types a little.
