We all have our stories. Times when we lost everything we worked for in a save game. I'll get this thread going.

Eventually I soldered a new battery and the cartridge works now and I got all my bros back.

Mine was nerve-wracking but thankfully averted. This weird local kid who I was vaguely friendly with at the time (he's now in jail for rape) came around to my house while I was visiting another friend and asked if he could borrow my Ruby version, and my mother, for god knows what reason, said he could. So I get home and find that the game I've poured countless hours into is in the hands of some kid I barely know, and I immediately panic and assume he's going to delete the save. I hurried around to his place immediately to get it back and discovered that he'd traded all my legendaries and some of my lvl 100s over to his file, but he assured me it was only for his Pokedex and he'd trade them all back right away. I made sure he did and then took it all back home.

In hindsight the kid didn't do anything all that bad (even though I suspect things may have been different if I hadn't chased him up about it as quickly) but my mother certainly did in giving it to him.

Same thing happened to me, but I was about 20 Pokemon from completing heart gold, I borrowed a friends DS and spent a few days trading from my old games only needed a few evolutions too, had to do everything over again and only got half the Pokemon 2nd time around.

I feel bad for you guys I really do.
I did have a similar situation with Mario Kart DS where my cousin accidentally deleted my shit but it didn't have the same impact.
I gave that same cousin my Ruby and my old GBA.

Take a cheapo pen and melt the back end a bit with a lighter. Then take the slightly melted end and press it onto the screw.
You now have a screwdriver for taking apart Gameboy games.

A quick note though. Only use pens that have caps. don't try it with the ones with the push button ends. Also make sure to hold the pen still when you press it onto the screw and wait until it cools fully (about 10 seconds is good)

If you don't move the pen before it cools, the worst that might happen is that the pen plastic is too soft to properly grip the screw. Also, Bic pens work the best in my experience..
