/vp/, what was your single most favorite feature introduced into a new gen?

Was it the introduction of breeding? Perhaps wireless multiplayer? Babby-mons for pre-existing mons? Maybe even megas? How about contests?

Personally, the one thing that I got most excited over in any Pokemon game happened in Gen 3, where we finally saw an end to... This.

For me... I loved walking with my Pokemon in HG/SS, it's what got me excited about the game again. Too bad they didn't include that again, huh.

without it I would never have gotten G/S since there was no item dupe glitch for infinite TMs anymore

the gen 4 phys/special split and gen 5+ infinite TMs are up there too

I'm inclined to say updated cries, but they went about it so poorly that I can't honestly say I actually enjoy it.
Other than that I was really pumped about following pokemon in HG/SS and i'm totally hoping they bring it back in OR/AS

Yeah, breeding was a godsend. I remember the feeling of ingenuity as me and my friends figured out that we could trade and breed each other's starters and simply trade them back, thereby helping each other complete our pokedexes / multi-starter teams at no consequence to the OT.

I'm so conditioned to using TMs only once that I never bother to reuse them, even though I can. Definitely didn't hurt to have it anyway, though.

This is something that's probably overlooked for the most part, but most recently with this Generation, I really loved the addition of the NPC's dotted around Kalos that would recite poetry or tell you a story. It helped make the game that much more immersive, and really helped me to get a feel of what kind of place it is.

Obviously there are tons more, but this is just off the top of my head.

Pokemon animations in Crystal blew my MIND. But the Emerald animations disappointed me, they sucked in comparison.

I guess the gen 6 animations are cool, but I always preferred animated sprites over 3d models, felt more like animation.
