starters are top notch
most of the early-routers evolve into solid pokemon (staraptor, roserade, luxray, etc.) the most shitty ones are probably wurmple and kricketot, but then again, how much do you really expect from early-route bugs?

Luxray is not so good tho, at least in coverage, also I think the shiny stone is kinda far away in the game? I don't really remember but Roselia is not really that good till it evolves.

Maybe I wasn't conviced by the designs so I didn't use the correct ones but I remember a lot of shitmons in my team at least during most of the game, until you get Lucario, Ganorchomp and those that were OP as fuck.

bibarel is solid wall with simple + defense curl/amnesia/rollout or you could just use it as an hm slave like >>19415067 said
other great evolutions of early-route pokemon include alakazam, crobat, golem, rapidash, machamp, gastrodon, mismagius, and honchkrow

as i said before, kricketune/beautifly/dustox are pretty much the only BAD ones

i think luxray's main issue was that spark was the best physical electric move it got
it still has good stats and intimidate fucks shit up, and i never had any problems using it

in platinum you could get the shiny stone as early as solaceon town
also, you'd have to stick with roselia for awhile anyways unless you want a roserade with no moves

Alakazam, Golem, and Machamp all require trading to evolve, which is not realistic for a majority of American pokemon players (Nintendo put out some data on prevalence of trading in different countries- Americans don't really trade except on the internet, and if you're doing that, then it doesn't matter what the early route pokemon are; you can just get whatever). Honchkrow, Mismagius, and your previously mentioned Roserade all require a rare stone. As for Bibarel, nobody uses walls on an in-game team. It's a shitty strategy.

The others are sold options, though.
