>>19419383kay to clear up the doubt on some of the stuff (i'm playing devil's advocate):
- char X? why not char Y?
so when you see a charizard, it's a 50-50 whether or not it's X or Y. sure, you can make an educated guess, but in reality the player could have clicked either one without backing. say you think its X, but it turns out to be Y, and your answer to X gets killed/severely damaged. great, you're down one, but now you know its Y and can play around it as needed. but if you think its Y, and it turns out to be X and dragon dances as you switch your answer to Y in, you're fucked because it can now sweep your shit by being at +2 +2 by the time you get your check in at the least. both megas are good, which is why char Y is chillin out in A+, but X is the one that fucks you if you guess wrong.

D guarantees hazards for offensive teams. thats it. it needs an incredible amount of team support, but given how easy it is to apply offensive pressure in this meta, nearly any 5 OU pokemon can fit this bill. so you send out D and it gets hazards down every time because its move pool is so fucking massive it has answers to all its "counters" somewhere in its move pool. and it has enough bulk to put on a mental herb or red card or even no item to ignore knock off damage boost (lol) and still live. S is kind of the same but can use its speed + taunt to DENY hazards for offensive teams, meaning you can use rock-weak shit with little to no consequences.
- genies in S? why this gen?
knock off's damage buff is why. they're special attackers with incredible power and have great coverage options, but they also can run knock off with a very respectable base attack stat to completely screw over any would-be checks from last gen. thundurus also has a bit more of a movepool which limits its theoretical counters by a lot, and is why it went into S before landorus, but landorus i guess has some merits going for it. landorus is like an S- basically.
