I've been googling about a little but I'm still confused; do I have to pay for the bank service in order to transfer pokémon from my White version to an X/Y game?

I'm pretty sure that there's a maintenance fee that must be paid before you can use Pokemon Bank. There was a free trial period, but it'd be well over now.

Yeah mate, you gotta pay this hokey fee to use the Bank. But you've only gotta pay it once and then if you never want to use it again you don't have to pay it again, you just can't access Bank after the year. Nintendo are stooging us around with this but at least it's not all that bad, getting a year of bank in case you need it is tiptop.

5$ every year to transfer all your pokemon but if you cant pay them for 1 year you -cant- bring anymore pokemon from BW/BW2 the transfer part will be disable until you pay the fee, but lets say you had all your pokes in the bank but never paid them because something happen, you'll still will be able to withdraw them and thats it.
