Pink is a much "manlier" color than blue.
In the early 20th century, Pink was used for males because it was seen as a more passionate version of Red, which was a "man's" color.
Blue on the other hand, was used for females because of the deep-rooted Catholic ideals, (i.e. the virgin Mary's blue cloak).
During WWII, Hitler actually made the color switch, correlating the color Pink with homosexuals in concentration camps, which effectively "feminized" the color Pink, thus leading to the popular belief that Blue was supposed to be the manly color.
