I've considered getting a powersaves device, but I don't know what it'd do to my Pokemon Y save.

Can anyone who owns one tell me what one can do to one's Pokemon Y save with this device?

I have had zero problems with corruption. But it's easy to get around because you can BACK UP your save prior to editing.
I corrupted my Monster Hunter save but had luckily backed it up. I also back up any of my friend's saves as a failsafe.

Set it to automatically backup your save when you use a code/cheat. I've corrupted my save a lot but then just deleted it and loaded my backup so there was zero harm done. Really the only harm your powersave can do is corrupting your save which shouldn't be a problem as long as you have just one backup.

Because I've already done everything.
After You've fought everything and made the armor/weapons and get bored of it while you wait an entire year for MH4U, it gets boring letting the poor thing sit and collect dust.
I still hunt with friends to help them rank up and what not. But that's literally all I do. So I started up a second profile which, on Powersaves, has LESS available stuff. A lot of which I can't/don't use anyway.

Only HR 53 on main file PRIOR to Powersaves.
Second file is HR 1 because I don't go online with that file BECAUSE of Powersaves.
I have SOME dignity, nigga.

I have other friends who are HR 200 and 188 specifically. And I didn't hunt with them until after I beat all the High Rank Moga Quests because I didn't want to cheese the whole game. My main profile has work put in to it. Second file does not. Only first file is for online and has zero Powersaves influence.

Fuck no, shit takes a week to do if you aren't a dedicated player.
If you have all of the games from gen 4 and onwards it takes even less time.

Hunt with friends. Thanks to them I already have Hallowed Jhen, Savage Jho and Lucent Narga. It's all about knowing people I guess.
You can't edit your mission list through Powersaves. So I could only get to Hallowed Jhen and Abysall and Savage and Lucent through people with like, over HR 150. And two of them are at my place on a weekly basis because we D&D and we Hunt before we D&D every single week and we also go to college together so we have tones of time to hunt.

Yes. You can use the wonder card modifier to get any pokemon you want as an event. Just use the master balls code, delete the desired amount of Master balls to match the number of the pokemon you want. Then you use the modifier code and get the pokemon from a lady at the pokemon center. You could use it for every pokemon you don't have but it would take a long time, so use it for legends and event legends and other rare pokemon.

I actually don't I'm an all around hunter who knows his specific weapon roles and sticks to them for the sake of the team.

I have sets for everything.
If I use hammer i stick to the face.
If I use bow I support with status.
If I use greatsword I cut tails and target weak spots with Crit Draw Lvl 2 and Lvl 3 Charges.
If I use switchaxe I go for tails and element.
If I use dual blades I go for status. I have a Great A.Rath set for that.
If I use hvy. or Light bowgun I support with status and Pierce S and Slice S Lvls 2 and 3 and various others.

I actually know my stuff and even manage to carry sometimes. I solo G Rank in my free time.

Going full "LEGIT ONLY" can making some of em a pain or real expensive to get, and i think some can't be caught by your own hand and only given via Wondercard or Poké Channel and that bullcrap.

And arguably:
Getting at a Event or Trade from a game that isn't yours =/= YOU actually Catching it.

Depends on how you hard you define "Catch them all" and what you have to work with.
