I never played Gen 2 and only discovered Johto with Soul Silver. Unfortunately, it was the Pokémon game I had the least fun playing, but it at least made me meet one of my bros in Mamoswine.

You mean the fact that you can't transfer Gen 2 pokes forward right? The cutoff had to happen eventually in order to update the data structure.

The Hoenn Confirmed maymay ruined the ORAS reveal for me.
Ruby/Sapphire is my least favorite game pair because of the overabundance of water.
At the start of every game pair announcement, my friend and I fight for "who gets the coolest legendary mascot" and we had a very hard time with XY because they both look excellent. It is the exact opposite with ORAS, we both wish it was an Emerald remake instead because Groudon and Kyogre are godawful designs

I didn't play any of Gen3, 2 or 1. I'm 22, and I start playing pokemon in Gen5 because DSi was my first portable, and before that I didn't have any interest in playing pokemon.

They made FRLG because you couldn't get those Gen 1 Pokemon any other way. By Emerald most of the Gen 2 Pokemon were also available.

The data structure hasn't changed much since RSE. Those were the games that modernized the EV/IV systems, added abilities, natures, personality values, etc. For example, In Gen 2 Pokemon could only have 0-15 IVs and had "stat experience", which was kind of like EVs but went up to 65,535 instead of 252.

It's not possible to accurately translate a Gen 2 Pokemon to Gen 3 without some data getting modified.

i mean shit, you could actually trade back and forth between gen1 and gen2 and that's when the special-attack/defense split happened

I had a pretty special bond with my starter on Pearl. It was an Empoleon called Aquarius. One of my friends asked me if he could borrow it to beat the E4, and I let him. He then restarted his game in front of me. We haven't talked in years. I actually cried myself to bed that night. I stole his copies of Blue and Yellow though, and he never asked for then back for some reason.

I've tried emulating Gen4 but I never even got my starter before putting it down

I started way back in '98, but never legitimately beat the elite4 until HGSS in 2012

That was easy for them though: the Special stat is just the same in both attack and defense.

I think what may have happened was the EV system. Notice that Pokemon haven't been changed very much in all in that department since Gen III.

I never owned a nintendo handheld.
I played all of my pokemon games on emulators and only up to 4th gen.
I haven't even beaten the E4 in a single one except Emerald and even then I didn't bother with post-game content.
I use save editors to give myself the pokemon I want because muh bros.
I am autistic about nature, IVs and EVs even though I only do singleplayer and it really doesn't matter.
I sometimes discuss smogon meta and balance here even though I've not played a single time against another person.
I still think Gen 1 is the best.
I mainly just come here for anime threads.
I liked Best Wishes (not my favorite, but I did like it)
I love Iris more than any other pokegirl.

Am I the worst person on this board yet?

I actually dislike Crystal because of the unnecessary Suicune plot & the inability to catch Ho-Oh & Lugia until after you've captured the 3 roaming legendary dogs which could take forever.
However I liked the updated graphics like the new Ice Path & animated sprites, bot on top of all the introduction of Kris.

seriously, Claydol is my current pokebro because, sure I had to use a quite a few moomoomilk to have him set up, he was able to tank enough of the b2 elite 4 four me to even win my first actual attempt against them, when I was recently playing it. they aren't your bros if you don't use them to beat the elite 4, at the very least. otherwise they're JUST pokemon that you 'like'.

To this day I am filled with rage over Genesect, Deoxys, and at least one other promo only being given to the sequels.

In most games that let you choose a gender and design your character's look I often choose a female, but chose male in Y because I've always chosen male in previous pokemon games. Ever since seeing the outfits & hairstyles that the female gets, and given that my character still looks like a twat, I regret this entirely.

I don't have a favorite pokemon game, and I'm not one sided such as proenns or genwunners. This also includes to give debate why my gen is so great or why that one is so bad, due to "this fukkin gen iz jus cuppin' dis udder gin" such as pokemon designs and story.

My philosophy, just play the game and enjoy the experience. If you cannot truly enjoy the game, that's when it's bad.

I feel nostalgia for BW2 because I first came to /vp/ during the pre-BW2 days. Every time I think of the games I remember all the threads we had during that time. The Delicious Kyouhei threads with the lewd filenames guy and all the prediction threads along with Magnemite generals after the games came out made the games more fun even though gen v is only my second favorite gen. While gen 3 is my favorite.

While I've been a fan of Pokemon through the show for as long as I can remember, I didn't really get into the franchise until Gen III.
Despite that, Hoenn is my least favorite region and, while I can't say that I hate or even really dislike any of the Pokemon introduced Ruby and Sapphire, I think that Gen III as a whole had the worst designs of any generation.
That said, I had similar feelings toward Gen II prior to HG/SS, which are my favorite Pokemon games.

Emulators allowed me to play glorious Platinum, HG, Black and Black 2 without being caught playing Pokemon.

And when I move out, I will finally play hard copies again. Also, I like Black better than Black 2. but Kyurem-Black is one of my favorite Legendaries. Roxanne is best girl and Emerald is the best game, though I'm partial to all of them in some way.

I'm jealous of people who have had more time and experience with Pokemon, and other vidya games people call "classics". I wasn't a part of the Pokemon hype in the 90's, I had relatively little outside influence to get me into that kind of thing, and I just- never got any of those nostalgiafag feelings.

It makes me feel like- by not having that be a major part of my childhood- I'm not really as "good" of a fan as other people are who've been with it since they were fetuses.

My first "true" game was SoulSilver and it stands out as my favorite. Fuck your level curve; it didn't even occur to me as I played. Fuck your shit lore about those legendaries that have no lore. While pokemon games have little to no lore, at least HGSS had a little bit of it.
The story was at least decent, even though no pokemon game has any real story.
There was also content in that game. Being able to catch legendaries from other generations and having a "second" region was great. Was there some things that were missing? Probably, without even a doubt. Did some of the features (friend safari days-thing) stupid? Sure. Was it good nevertheless? Of course.

I bought Diamond but since I regretted not buying Platinum (for the same price), I have not yet finished it.

I bought both Black 2 and White 2, one for me and one for my gf. We both beat the game, but haven't played together or even did any of the postgame. I caught the legendaries for my living bank-dex.

I don't have a favorite gen. I cannot settle on a single, favorite pokemon. I like multiple types and while I dislike some pokemon, there are very few that I would not use or want on my team.

-I still think Gen II shits all over Gen III. I hate Gen III's art style and I love the attention to detail in Gen II: the day/night system, the flawlessly executed way G/S/C connect to R/B and make you feel like time has passed, and the only time the evil team actually felt menacing

-Legendaries are some of my least favorite Pokemon, mostly because I remember when they were actually special. Now it feels like there's more Legendaries than there were original Pokemon, and the new ones all look like bad Digimon. They've gotten lazy with the back stories too "lol dis 1 is God"

I lost a Naive Event Jirachi with Draco Meteor that had near-perfect IV's (all 28-31).
I brought a bunch of games with me on a plane ride and never saw them again. Lost every game I had except RSE, Leaf Green, and White 2.
That Platinum copy had that Jirachi on it, and so many of my Pokebros from older games. I think I lost ~250 hours playtime on that thing.

Pretty sure that's been a thing since Diamond and Pearl. "Pretty sure" because it was the pair that I spent a lot of time trading/battling online with. Good times.

I've played through every region sans Sinnoh and Kalos at least twice. I would like to go through Sinnoh again someday, since it has been 7 years.

As for an actual confession, I was part of the Hoenn hate hivemind right up until the last legs of my teenage years. I look back on the games of that generation rather fondly now (R/S/E, Colosseum (didn't get Gale of Darkness), Mystery Dungeon, Ranger, Trozei...) Gen 3 was pretty sweet.

I've slowly been losing interest in pokemon over the last few games. I've completed generations 1-3 countless times, I only played through gen 4 once or twice, I never bothered to defeat Alder in gen 5 and I've restarted my gen 6 game 3 times before the 5th gym.
