The only time I ever played competitive was in some Diamond/Pearl/Platinum tournament at a convention a few years back. I got my shit slammed in a couple of turns by some autist in an Akatsuki outfit.

OU is not the standard meta. It's just the most popular. UU/RU/NU are their own, standalone metas.

People spend so much time complaining that OU is shit because stuff that should be banned isn't, when there are three other, separate metas that are a lot more fun and whose tier leaders handle it way better than the OU council. Like, RU is suspecting Frolass now. Froslass is basically RU's Deoxys, and after three months they're suspecting it.

Trips confirm. The reality of playing in real life competitions is actually great. It's also nice to throw aside the calls of things being broken and arguments about it. Yeah, things are broken (albeit far less then they CAN be in singles, since the game was made for dubs, see: Mega Gengar), but the meta isn't just going to change, and so we get on with it and just play the game. The flaws are there but in any meta they always will be.

What other stats do I cite then? Anon if you really have that much hate for the meta why play it? There is obviously nothing that will change your mind. I've seen way more variety this gen than most other gens since gen 1. The only one I can say that beats it is gen 4 after the Salamence and Garchomp were banned.

No pseudo has been uber since Rough Skin Garchomp was released. All the box legendaries except Black Kyurem are uber, along with Darkrai, Sky Form Shaymin, Blaziken, Genesect, Deoxys, Attack Form Deoxys, and a few mega evolutions.

Gen 5 RU was fun.

Randoms is probably one of the more enjoyable metas, probably because the randomness takes some of the edge off winning/losing. Randoms does need some balance changes specific to Randoms though.

Gen 6 RU will be fun once the meta settles. Gen 6 VGC might be fun next year when we have move tutors and more shit than Rotom-W and Garchomp dominating everything in the metagame. And dark void finally gets banned.

Yes it fucking does, Deo-D is the one reason that offense is so stale and autopilot. It's exactly the same situation as last gen, making HO twice as hard to handle.

Banning that means the meta would be less polarized and you can run balance for once. Also would mean a greater skill bar for HO, which is atrociously low at the moment
