Doujinshi artists usually do ask that people don't resell or redistribute in the backs of their books. This is less a money thing than it is a cultural thing; fanartists and doujinshi artists generally don't like people reposting their work or redistributing it.
Should the artist's wishes be respected? That's something for you to decide. Personally, I scan and clean and upload my own doujinshi, most of which are from 2010 or earlier.

They're super cheap when you buy it at a market, 400-800 yen is a normal range for a 20-40 page doujin. You only get fucked when ordering off secondhand sellers or when importing.
