In Pokémon Origins 2: Gold and Silver Versions, when Gold helps Kurt save the Slowpoke at the Slowpoke Well, Kurt gives him the GS Ball and states that a young boy with a Pikachu delivered it to him a long time ago and he was never able to figure it out, but he believes that Gold has the potential to uncover its secrets. The GS Ball is later revealed to contain a Celebi which takes Gold back in time to do the Giovanni story from HG/SS.
