I'd do it more thoroughly though.
-Flying now resists Ground moves instead of being immune to them
-certain moves are now considered "ground-limited".
including most Ground-type moves, but not Bonemerang or Mud Bomb for example.
Also some non-Ground-type moves like Surf/Muddy Water and Rollout.
-each Pokémon is now one of the following:
1. (some psychic symbol) levitating via supernatural powers
2. (magnet symbol) levitating by electromagnetic means
3. (balloon) floating
4. (wings) flight
5. (fairy/insect wing) light
6. ( ) grounded
(I just put airborne and grounded first, but with more specific categories, it would enable future moves to have effects targeting any particular of these etc.. )
the first 3 would grant a straightforward constant immunity to ground-limited moves.
Nr5 would be stuff like certain fairies and a good amount of insects. Flight would have a 25% of changing to grounded for one turn after every turn (but guaranteed flight after a grounded turn). 75% when HP drop below 50%.
Pokemon using electromagnetism could drop till the end of the next turn 30% chance whenever any pokemon uses an Electric move or moves like Magnet Bomb.
-certain moves are now be considered "wind-based"
this includes stuff like Gust, Hurricane, Icy Wind, Twister, Fire Spin, Silver Wind, and so on..
not sure how deep to go with this, but it would certainly add some effect when used against some of the airborne categories, like floaters losing their momentum, light ones getting 1.5x damage, and pokemon capable of "flight" having a chance to avoid getting hit by the move altogether for example.
Now. How do we fix Ghost types?
What I mean is, they shouldn't be immune to Hyperbeam, Aura Sphere, Tri-Attack, but should be immune to Ice Punch, Bite, Rock Throw and for example.
If we add all contact and physical moves its way too much though... so perhaps Ghost resists some categories (like anything half elemental) and is immune to others (contact moves)?
