This basically. Except with Sinnoh.
I hate 80% of the pokemon, -especially- the three dozen legendaries it introduced.
I've tried time and again to play through Platinum but I just don't care about any of the character or places so I always quit.

Same here man, I never bothered with Sinnoh and don't really plan to since I don't really like many of the gen 4 mons. The only ones I do remotely like are past gen evolutions like mamoswine, yanmega and dusknoir.

Platinum is the tightest Pokémon game around. I highly recommend it. Also you never truly get into the Pokémons design until you play with them.

Like, the new Pokes they introduce aren't the sole difference between gens, and there's other stuff to experience, and I want that.

I just started playing Platinum for the first time in order to get the time and space trio for my Kalos national dex, and I thought it would be a drag to play on a slower game engine, but so far I'm having a blast. It's nice to look at 2D sprites again, and the music is great too.

Just sharing because it feels pretty good.

Skipped gen 3 and every time I get into it something makes my game unplayable. with my cartridge it shuts down when I try to play and all the roms I have don't work or are corrupted somehow. I think I'll just wait until ORAS comes out.

I'll admit D/P were unplayable with the text speed, but Platinum has been the most fun for me in terms of a pokemon game.

Platinum is a perfect example of what a 3rd version should do, it did a lot more than just polish up a tiles and add a postgame area like Emerald did. It fixed a huge amount of the problems with DP like it's wonky level jump at the E4, redoing the dex, fleshed out the plot and a lot of the characters, and sped up a lot of the absurdly slow things like the surf speed. You're obviously entitled to your own opinion, but you can't deny that Platinum tried it's hardest to fix DP's problems.
