Between this and the other thread, I'm tempted to hold off getting a 3ds until ORAS.

Why do they keep dumbing down games? Why are harder-difficulty games seen as so wrong nowadays?

Pokemon has never been very hard, though I think each successive gen gets easier in order to attract the widest audience possible. Gen VI simplified thing so much that a rock could play it, and jerked the gen 1 boner.

Currently trying to play White 2 (again). This is my experience so far:

Then I get to breathe for a moment and battle the Gym until...

I would suggest not bothering with video games in general. 90-97% games are released to add to the developer's ever growing money castle, not because they think it would be a nice thing to do. You have crowd funding in the indie game department to fund games that aren't even out yet and you can't pass judgement on, and the AAA titles are just a sequel to some other franchise, or plays exactly like another game.

If you're extolling the virtues of Gen I, then Blue's pokemon are probably not the best example. Look at those fucking movesets on Rhydon, Exeggutor, and Arcanine, those are complete shit.

This list is missing a lot. And I mean a lot.

For Mario, is misses a bunch of spinoffs, including the mario and luigi series. Super smash bros for 3DS ain't there. None of the Zelda remakes are either. Little Big planet is missing it's handheld counterparts.

With crash bandicoot, I have no idea what you are doing. That fucker's had all kind of part spinoffs. Same with spyro too, these two have had way more exclusives. Hell, they even has their crossovers on the GBA.

You spelled ODST wrong (somehow), and missed off Halo Wars. Then there was that one fable game for the kinect, that was exclusive.

Also, you're missing a huge amount of franchises. Okami, a couple of the burnouts, pokemon, etc. Are you even trying?

Not that anon, but handhelds are consoles... They are consoles, which you can hold, and play, in your hand.

True they had a few good Vita titles, the Ratchet and Klank game and Jak and Daxter game coming to mind, but on the whole, the 3DS has many more good titles. In addition, the 3DS has the added bonus of the virtual console, so you can get old favorites in the 3DS E-Shop, including most of the directors cut versions to fuel your nostalgia boners. In fact I believe Mother 2/Earthbound was released for Virtual Console awhile ago, although not sure if 3DS or Wii.

If I remember right, they were exclusive to the Xbox before they were ported. What that has to do with anything I don't know though because the list is about how much a company reuses their characters per gen, not about what's exclusive.

This thread makes me glad I skipped off to /vr/ as my main board.

Not out of hate because I love /vp/, and I know Pokemon was always meant to be easy, but damn do I hate how it's progressed Gen to gen. I want to like it, but it just gets too damn "lowest common detonator" centered. Even moreso than a lot of other series out there.

What's it going to take to make Pokemon better for /vp/?
