Hey, /vp/. I gotta say, I'm kind of excited for ORAS, as I'm sure most of you are. So I made a little something for you guys to enjoy while we wait for our Hoenn Remakes.

I put some time into hacking a Pokémon Emerald rom. Trainers have improved AI and higher levels, you can get Pokemon not normally found in Emerald. Things like that. Think of it as the Blaze Black and Volt White of Emerald.

This is a really niche Imo complaint but I hate shiny locking. Black rayquaza will probably be unavailable in this game due to shiny locked rayquaza.

Making shinies event only is a terrible idea and it makes me cringe with autistic tier negativty just thinking about it

hackanon here, just comin by to say that the value listed as "AI" in a-trainer actually affects that particular pokemon's IVs and not how smart the trainer is about using them

the trainer's ai routine seems to be influenced by the unknown byte in a-trainer, it's 1 on most trainers and 7 on most bosses

Actually I asked it of you because every creator has his own idea of how much and in what way a pokemon should be buffed.
But everyone enjoys a slightly harder challenge (hence keep the hard opponents), everyone likes using their pokebros (hence allow 386 to be caught and make trade evos into stone evos or sth) and nobody dislikes choices (if I like OP Shedinja I will play the modded version, if I like the original, I'll play the vanilla version).

And it shouldn't be much work, since all you'd have to do is remove the "buffed pokemon" parts from the patch. I have no idea about programming/hacking though, is it actually easy or is it hard because you'd have to redo it from scratch?

I can still develop on it from where I'm at. The only issue is that Hoenn is covered in, well, water. Cramming all 386 Pokemon into the land could prove to be a challenge.

Here's a list of all the changes I made. This doesn't include pre evolutions, but everything list which has a pre evolution has had those pre evos buffed accordingly. This does not include their new movesets.

Coincidentally, OP, i'm dicking around with a Ruby Rom. While I can't add new moves or Fairy Types, I got the whole "Replacing Pokemon and giving them the correct cry" thing down.

Just FYI, Epsilon is the Greek letter corresponding to E (for Emerald) and it was not even (TM)ed by GF, Delta was instead (for some reason)

Delta may have been for the Delta Species Pokémon in the TCG. Delta Species were Pokémon with a different type (Fire-type Heracross, for example)

Actually these days, even though Ruby's a great game it's been deemed the inferior hacking base (at least when it comes to things like expanding the Pokedex). There's efforts to adapt methods to Ruby sure, but some things just can't be done. It's mostly due to how Ruby was originally made with the worst compilers Nintendo ever offered.

FR, Emerald, or bust is pretty much the concensious.

3. You want to apply the IPS patch downloaded here onto a CLEAN version of Emerald. Select the IPS file and then select Emerald.

4. Enjoy. Repeat with another Emerald ROM if the game is being a dick and not working.

Well, Emerald's more "weird" for me and my autism levels would go crazy if I tried to replace a Pokemon when it'd only have one animation frame, and I haven't a clue how to disable it without turning off ALL battle animations.

One gets rid of the green, and one disables all animations. There's also a tutorial about how to do it all in a Hex Editor floating around.

All the Pokemon that have Mega Evolutions I tried to inspire off of those. Like why I made Ampharos Electric/Dragon and gave Mawile Huge Power. Plus, Gyarados with Water/Dragon and those beastly stats is pretty scary for in game, as its only weakness would be dragon which isn't all that common.

OP, if you ever decide to make a bigger hack in the future, please add the Black/White exp gain system (LiquidCrystal was able to implement it) and the Physical/Special split (quite a few hacks have this; LiquidCrystal, Yet Another FireRed Hack, etc.)

These two things alone make a hack 9/10 tier. Then with rebalancing of stats and moves, and making sure there's at least one usable (at least 80 BST) Physical and Special attack of each type, and you're done. Instant 10/10 hack.

To go even further and make it 11/10, add newer gen Pokemon, moves and abilities. YAFRH did this perfectly, but sadly it doesn't have the B/W exp curve which makes grinding a pain in the ass. Also, I'm completely sick of Kanto and I think everyone would prefer such a hack to be Hoenn-based.

Sadly, I attempted to make a hack like this but I just don't have that much free time in college. I really wish someone would do it though.
