Turn off caps lock. Give it an attack. Does it really need toxic? Loads of pokemon can learn toxic and there's probably better pokemon in your box for it. People aren't likely to switch out rock weak mons against a carbink because they'll be expecting a utility set like the one you posted, so maybe pack power gem to prevent being taunt bait and to mess with people that expect no attacks.

Well first, HP EVs are outright superior than defense EVs, I'd suggest at least a 252 hp/128 def/128 spdef EV spread, have a calc.

252+ Atk Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 4 HP / 252 Def Carbink: 256-304 (105.7 - 125.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 128 Def Carbink: 276-328 (90.7 - 107.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

The 252/128/128 spread is just bulkier than the 4/252/252 spread.

Next, consider where you'll be using it. If in Maison the mixed spread is fine. But VGC/Doubles tends to favour Special Attackers (due to Intimidate) and Wifi tends to be more Physically oriented. So consider using a lopsided spread with more EVs in defense or special defense.

As far as movesets go, try switching Toxic out for Explosion or Power Gem/Moon Blast. Explosion helps you suicide lead, Moon Blast improves your Special Bulk through SpAtk drops, and Power Gem kills Talonflame and Special Rock moves are generally rare.

Also Stone Edge is better because it OHKOs Y-zard.

And I suggested TR because I used it on a TR team once and it was sort of okay. Carbink is really not that good at anything besides TR and slowly getting whittled down by Birdspam teams.

But any doubles meta where TR is actually good will have Taunt users. It's why Slowbro/king and Aromatisse are so popular as TR setters. Also Sturdy sucks in doubles regardless.

You don't run 4/252/252 either. You either run max bulk on one side, or you use a more specific spread; e.g. 248hp/136def/108sdef/16spe on Mandibuzz allows it to avoid a 2HKO from Lando-I's Focus Blast and outspeed Adamant max speed Mawile/Azumarill, with the rest in defense.

TR is not shit on Carbink if you have mons that benefit from it. TR+Explosion is good, your other options are either Bronzong (very little reason to use it over Carbink, besides the Gyro Ball,) Cresselia (Lunar Dance) and Uxie (Memento, but Bisharp fucks this.)

Dedicated TR teams where everything is slow as piss are what blows. You don't need to build a team around TR, you just need one or two mons that are unholy in Trick Room, like Mega Mawile.

Carbink is also able to hold Mental Herb. No other item is really that useful to it, except maybe Balloon; even with lefties it's not going to last long.
