Which battle did you have a hard time beating? Not counting Frontier/Maison. Just main story battles.

Colress rematch is kind of tough.

Also, some random trainer in BW nearly beat me. That one Veteran in Challengers Cave, with a full, high-level team. I was underleveled and already pretty beat up, and had no idea he was down there. As embarrassing as it is, that's probably the closest I've ever come to whiting out.

Never had issue with Whitney since by then i knew my shit and had a Fightan Type, and Hydreigon was kinda fucked since i was on a roll with Fury Cutter when he came out.

This was when I chose torchic. I didn't train anyone else and it kept getting OHKO'd. Finally decided to fish for something and caught a sharpedo. I still had to level it a bit before attempting a rematch.

She's not bad, and she's probably the most challenging trainer in Hoenn, but you shouldn't be having too much trouble with her. It's the 5th gym, you're supposed to have a well rounded team.

Fucking this. I can't understand why people call Platinum difficult, because the only difficult thing about Gen IV was D/P Cynthia because of that ridiculous level curve.

In addition to that, here are some of the tougher trainers that I remember from the games:

>Norman if you didn't have a strong Fighting-type with you

I think Brawly is kind of rough if your starter hadn't evolved by that point. Ralts defense is too poor to take attacks from Machop and Makuhita at that stage.

The Unova trio would have been a better challenge if that bitch in the dreamyard didn't throw you a monkey that had an advantage over the leaders you were meant to battle.
Brawly was also a challenge but people bragged about sableye making it easy and the fact they needed to catch a pokemon for that one battle just to beat him and not use it again shows how tough he could actually get.

Flaffy/Ampharos solo'd both gyms. Flaffy Twaving Miltank pretty much killed it, and Ampharos was oneshoting pretty much everything when reaching Clair.

Bugsy rekt me the first time, though.

The free turns are enough to not die. You either had something that killed Slaking in two turns or something that would take a hit and then recover (or use a healing item) and do chip damage.

Winona was more of a challenge.

Nigga u wot? If there's one Gym Leader that I've always been able to beat without taking any damage, it's Winona. She's possibly the easiest Gym Leader in the entire series. What is so difficult about using Ice Beam or Thunderbolt, TMs that you get for free just before going to the fucking Gym?

Hoenn - Norman. That Slacking. I thought breloom would have no problem, then effect spore kicked in. Winona gave me problems until I learned Altaria was a dragon
Sinnoh - I don't remember the leaders being that difficult this gen, just Cynthia really. I remember switching in Gyarados multiple times to intimidate and bait the equake to get past chomp.
Unova - really just Ghetsis Hackdreigon, it was just unexpected
Kalos - lol. I remember using chespin for the first gym and just him thinking I was gonna get steamrolled by vivillion. Viola just did support attacks and let me rollout til the wheels cracked

Of course she was easy when playing correctly, all of them are. Exploiting the leader's monotypes make the game too easy. If you went to Winona with nothing to one shot her to death, she could rekt you if you weren't prepared.

Probably Cynthia. I was awfully underleveled when I got to her, and having a Spiritomb as a lead didn't help when it soaked all my neutral damage.

I remember having had to stall with my last Pokemon multiple times while I revived my other already fainted ones.

Her Milotic and Garchomp were also big problems. I didn't have many Pokemon that could hit that Milotic for SE damage, and the only coverage I had against her Garchomp was my own lower-leveled Garchomp. If it weren't because mine had EVs and was able to stand up to it, I would have lost that battle in a blink.

The ONLY time I actually had a hard time with someone was ten years ago when Fire Red came out, back then I solo'd every game with my starter and that particular run I had chosen Charmander, needless to say, Misty wrecked my fucking shit sideways, not even overleveling helped. I dropped the game and picked it up again weeks later, restarted, picked Squirtle (which ended up being the better choice anyways), got myself some good ass Pokémon and blazed the game with them.

I honestly found her the hardest trainer of any Pokemon game I've played but maybe I'm the only one, I never hear talk about her.

When I played Blaze Black 2, Elesa and Clay were both goddamn nightmares that I eventually had to just grind to outlevel. It didn't help that, at that point in the game, wild Pokemon gave shitty experience and the only way to grind was on the Hoenn Gym Leaders in each town.
