>>19495934a bit of both, I never hated quest threads there were some fun ones, even the CYOA ones that don't really present the reader with a lot of choice. Some of the early ones were creative as fuck, but like all things most of them are shit with the occasional diamond in the rough.
That said, holy shit has it become popular to do Anime: The Quest Thread in the last two or three years, which isn't to say all of them are bad, some had interesting concepts, but the copy cats are all huge group wish fulfillment waifu-fests where every choice has to be awesome and failure results in thread wide nerd anger. Fuck those kinds of quests.
That aside, /tg/ just has too higher opinion of itself. It's just like /v/ or /a/ is to traditional games. Edition wars, fetishism, bait threads, circle jerking, it's all there. A lot of the things they are proud of aren't even that good, like AdEva which is a fucking mess of a system.
I like /tg/ but it's just harder to find stuff to keep me entertained with it these days, and yeah, it's not uncommon for 20 or so quest threads to be hovering in the first three or so pages. I mostly leave them be but damn there is a lot of it.
