Let's face it, people get lazy sometimes and ignore Hidden Power types at the expense of perfect IVs or time.

So /vp/. Which Pokemon did you do this with, and how did you compensate for lost coverage?

That's because Hidden Power is only really relevant on a few pokemon.

Most either can't use it well enough for any decent damage or already have relevant coverage options.

I still taught it Hidden Power, but figured I could settle with Ground instead of Fire, since it was still a pretty good attacking type.

I never bothered getting HP fire on Greninja. It would certainly be cool to have, but I just don't think it matters that much. Grass Knot/U-Turn is fine and we have no idea what's coming for its tutor moves. Nigga might get Aura Sphere or some shit.

It's good for Nasty Plot + Trick Room, since it uses Shadow Ball as its main attacking move and the only things that resists that are Dark and Normal types, both of which are weak to Fighting.

honestly all i need is muh willowisp and ruse room
i use him as a lead for my trick room team. hey, if he spams enough boosts and lives to sweep, awesome. but spreading status and putting up trick room is all he needs for me

Breeding for HP Fire Froakie wasn't as bad as I expected. I don't really need it since the rest of my team easily destroys things that are coincidentally weak to fire anyway, but it's still kind of nice being able to switch to fire type in front of a fairy or grass move.

I just bred a froakie with hp fire.

I got a nice one in the gts thread, but it was 31/31/30/30/31/30 while I wanted 31/x/31/30/31/30 and I wanted a dive ball one and I don't like running u-turn on it. While I was breeding for a suitable female with 31 def and the remaining nice IV, I came across a protean female 31/17/30/30/31/30 one. HP Fire (but with even def instead of even attack). I said fuck it, this is going on my team.
