It also hurts itself with every move and often won't obey you. Surely the message of the Orre games was that "shortcuts to make your Pokémon more powerful are not worth it"

It's always been my headcanon that the Mystery Dungeon games take place in the far future, when human civilization has collapsed and former human cities and towns have have fallen into ruin and become dungeons, pokemon have created their own replacements for human items (such as seeds) and surviving human items (TMs) are incredibly rare and expensive as the pokemon don't know how to create them.

That said, i think Primal Dialga does have a chance to become Canon since it is still pretty popular, years after it was relevant.
