Consider the following:

Mega stones automatically evolve the Pokemon to it's mega form when they're attached ala Giratina and his orb.

How different would this change things for you guys?

It would make M-Venusaur a lot better because it could switch into Fire and Ice attacks better. Banette would benefit from it a lot because it would get Prankster the first turn. Anything that doesn't use its first form at all would benefit from it. For Charizard it's situational. On one hand not being mega evolved right away makes the opponent guess which one it is, but on the other hand if you're using X you take less rock damage upon switching in the first time.

I think the required turn to trigger is a balance mechanic in place in addition to giving a few team configurations some mix-up tactics as well as giving a few choice Pokemon the benefit of being able to use the non-Mega's ability advantageously. (Gyarados, Pinsir, and Manectric jump readily to mind)

What needs to be changed is passive abilities that would alter how the turn progresses need to trigger pre-turn like Mega evolution itself does. (read: M-Bannette)

The only thing I want them to do is apply the speed increase and changed ability the turn that the megaevolution occurs. The rest I'm fine with.

No, it doesn't. Plus, M-Medicham can hit much harder with HJK than any of M-Mawile's attacks.

I was thinking of deo-a, forgot about mega yoga.
Mawile does have swords dance to get to 1356 attack though.
