Gen V is the best overall game. The region is inferior, but it has tons of new pokemon, many of which have good designs, and it felt like a fairly long game.
Gen VI is overall a disappointment. Graphics upgrade is nice, but the new pokemon number is an absolute travesty, and the new designs are a huge mixed bag much like Gen IV. The game felt very short and the region fairly linear, the routes weren't long enough and not many of them looked all that interesting. I absolutely despise megas, most of them look terrible and even the ones that don't could generally have been evolutions instead. My greatest fear is that they'll be used as an excuse to give us less new real pokemon in the future. About the only thing I like other than the graphics is customization.
