all pokemon (game wise) are treated as extentions of the trainers, save for the Pokemon mascot (Pikachu) and Legendary Pokemon which more or less essential to the games - save for Kanto Bird Trio who are the only legends that are renamed...and even then, they didn't have anything to do with the first gen games aside from being there (like other pokemon) unlike Mewtwo
so pretty much, unless you are a legendary pokemon or pikachu, you are getting your name changed
