My older half-brother gave me Blue as a kid, but the cartridge was corrupted or some shit so I could never get it working.

Then I got yellow, so Pikachu was my first starter.

I never evolved Squirtle or Bulbasaur because Ash didn't in the anime.

I watched the anime when it was first coming out to America, but I didn't get a game until Gold when I was 6.

I was a dumbfuck kid and ended up playing up through Falkner many times before figuring out how to save. During that run I had chosen Chikorita, so I stuck with it. My playing is what introduced me to what's still my favorite pokebro: Umbreon

I remember trying Chikorita, deciding that it was weak, and restarting for Totodile. I still use the dumbass name of "COOL-DUDE" that my younger self gave it.

Sapphire when I was 9, I picked Torchic.

Technically I started with gen I, I played my dad's copy of Blue but I didn't like it, too hard and too slow and too complicated.

I played Silver too but I don't know how far I got, I remember the Tin Tower but never finished the game or got legendaries or anything.
