it is simply not plausible that the course of human history would look exactly the same if sapient supernatural monsters were reality
therefore, if you assert that the pokemon world is the real world, pokemon must have entered it fairly late (AFTER recored real world history), and looking at the games, enough time must have passed for society to change to accept the existence of pokemon as it is presented in official media
