I think I get what OP is saying. Heliolisk could potentially lock down the Mega because the lightning rod would redirect any and all attack to him.

The problem is, in a 1v1 setting, this would only cause a stalemate (assuming Heliolisk could outspeed M-Scep). So it's a check, but not a counter.

Heliolisk is usable, just only in a very limited setting.

I use it with Charizard-Y. Heliolisk has Solar Power and has all EVs going to Special Attack and Speed. Then I give him a life orb.

A lot of people see Charizard-Y as a bigger threat, but heliolisk often ends up doing more damage since he takes many by surprise.

You're thinking about it wrong. It absolutely needs to be a Tutor/Egg move for Treecko or Sceptile to work, since in Doubles Lightingrod will just draw in and negate Electrify.

I think people ITT have failed to think of something.

Think doubles, with Helioptile and M-Sceptile on the same team. Helioptile can turn any attack into a free Sp.Attk boost for M-Sceptile.

I'm really hoping Treecko could get Electrify as an Egg Move now or make it a Tutor Move. They have to be aware of how effective this can be.

If only it knew Taunt too, but it does have a fast Substitute. This could lead to something really cool, which would be all the more reason why GameFreak probably wouldn't do this, but I'm still hoping

Tbh, I'd be happy enough with Ion Deluge for Sceptile. Electrify could really make it broken in singles, since Smogonbird, Ice Shard users, and Scarfers are now the only thing that can actually kill it.
