It exchanges a useless Flying STAB and a 4x weakness for a handful of new weaknesses, a useless Dark STAB, and Mold Breaker. I don't see the problem here.

Would Crunch even be good for M-Gyarados if he got it as an egg move in ORAS? Besides Aegislash i don't see any other uses.

Earthquake and Waterfall is really all you need to go through Water Absorb and Levitate.

Obligatory Dragon Dance/Protect in Singles/Doubles means that you have a free moveslot so it doesn't really matter wether it got STAB Crunch or not, it still does amazing without the coverage.

Yeah it'd be nice but hey, nobody expects Taunt from a Gyarados.

Megados can get up to +1 ridiculously easily and just start trucking through things.

It's good your opponent lets you get a Swords Dance or two because the added bulk lets you take hits easier to Roost them off later but Banded Scizor or Swords Dance + Life Orb do a lot more.

Bulky Gyarados with Rest + Chesto Berry lets you get at least 2 Dragon Dances, only downside is you can't take Sucker Punch as well.

That's rather unlikely with how common Fire move is in a team. Hell, unless you invest on more Def, Smogbird can score 2HKO with BB rather reliably.
