I go on twitch and watch people do whatever in Pokemon X/Y sometimes, and people still seem to prefer chaining/horde battles over breeding for some reason (at least on twitch, anyways.)

Make a living Pokedex. It seems the shiny charm is going to be a thing going forward so just use the living dex to make a complete version in every game instantly.

Just this day i was EV training when i saw a shiny Geodude that i ran away from, because of being distracted by the E3, and my reaction was a big "meh" (not that i expected to catch it anyway)
